We’re heading towards a world where traditional measurement is not going to cut it at all.

FUTURE OF LEARNINGLITERACY & CONFIDENCE

So I've been talking to some very clever people amongst you over the last few weeks. And I'm increasingly wondering whether we’re heading towards a new kind of quotient.
Now before everybody piles in…
I know IQ isn’t just factual recall.
I know intelligence is more complicated than that.
(DH; BH. Don’t Hate me for Being Honest.)
But when I was at school, being able to remember and repeat information was a pretty good route to being considered clever. It's how children were streamed - did they produce the "right" information in response to a question.
Today, my phone can tell me what photosynthesis is. AI can explain it in 50 different ways if I still don't understand. (Not picking on photosynthesis - just thinking out loud.)
So what becomes valuable instead?
The person who knows the answer?
Or the person who asks the question nobody else thought of?
The person who remembers the fact?
Or the person who knows what to do with it? Has internalised it, assimilated it, actually understands not just the concept but the context?
I’ve found myself jokingly referring to TQ. Thinking Quotient.
It’s probably a terrible name.
But I can’t shake the feeling that we’re heading towards a world where traditional measurement is not going to cut it at all.
